This weekend, the Naples International Circuit in Sarno will host the second round of the 2025 FIA European Karting Championship for the KZ and KZ2 categories. Following the opening round in Spain last month, the gearbox classes return to the track for the second of three scheduled events in this year’s continental series.
A total of 69 drivers are entered in KZ2, with 22 set to compete in the premier KZ class. However, some withdrawals are expected due to unresolved tire performance issues experienced during the Spanish round. Despite these challenges, CRG will be present with a full lineup of four drivers, showing its commitment to this important championship and providing constructive support to both the Federation and the event promoter. The company’s management, however, has not held back in voicing concerns and has called for swift and effective technical solutions.
KZ and KZ2 represent the pinnacle of karting performance, featuring highly skilled and professional drivers—especially in the KZ category. Limiting their ability to perform at the highest level is a disservice to the sport and to the promotional goals of the championship.
CRG’s driver lineup for Sarno includes Viktor Gustavsson in the KZ class and Paavo Tonteri, Menyhert Krozser and Alvar Siimesvaara in KZ2.
The event schedule includes free practice on Thursday, June 19, qualifying sessions and heats on Friday, a full day of qualifying heats on Saturday and Super Heats followed by the Finals on Sunday. With the championship standings still wide open after the Spanish round, this weekend’s results will be especially important for those targeting strong positions in the title race.
