CRG could not have asked for a better return from the summer break. Following Viktor Gustafsson’s victory in the FIA Karting World Championship – KZ at Le Mans, CRG added another major achievement to its 2026 campaign last weekend, claiming the FIA Karting World Cup – OK-N at the Viterbo circuit. Brazilian driver Yuri Morelli secured the prestigious title with a dominant performance in the Final, capping off an outstanding weekend in which he had led every stage of the FIA event: from taking pole position in qualifying to topping the standings after winning all three Heats.
It was a remarkable demonstration of the CRG KT2 chassis’ potential in a category that serves as a benchmark for direct-drive national championships worldwide. The result, achieved on Maxxis tyres, also bodes well for the upcoming FIA Karting World Championships – OK and OK-Junior, which will be held in Italy at the Muro Leccese circuit on 8 November, using the same tyres. The performance level of CRG chassis at the season’s most prestigious events has once again proved to be extremely competitive. More importantly, this result highlighted the versatility of CRG’s technical package, which provides drivers with excellent confidence in all track conditions, delivering both outright speed and strong race pace, together with consistent performance throughout the race.
Brandon Nilsson of the CRG Racing Team commented on the Viterbo victory: “The chassis was fantastic, as we made only minimal set-up changes from qualifying through to the Final while maintaining impressive speed and race pace throughout. This is the chassis that will be marketed for direct-drive categories in national championships and one-make trophies for the 2027 season. Seeing how easy it is to drive and how effectively it adapts to both low-grip conditions and a track with a high level of rubber laid down on the racing line confirms that we are heading in the right direction. Working with Maxxis tyres allowed us to maximise the overall performance of the package, and we are naturally optimistic about having a competitive technical package for the FIA Karting World Championships – OK and OK-Junior at La Conca, which will be run on the same tyres. I must congratulate Yuri, who drove exceptionally well throughout every stage of the weekend and managed the tyres perfectly. We are also delighted to share this second title of the season with our engine partner, TM.”
Brazilian driver Yuri Morelli was equally enthusiastic about his achievement: “From the very first free practice sessions, we realised that we had exceptional race pace in all track conditions. We were fast in the morning, when grip levels were low and temperatures were cooler, and we remained just as competitive in the heat of the day. We made very few set-up changes, and the chassis balance always felt right, both on new tyres in qualifying and on used tyres during the races. This allowed me to focus fully on my driving, which was particularly important given the high level of competition and the technical, challenging nature of the circuit. I am extremely happy with this victory, both for my future career and for CRG, as this FIA title in the OK-N category was particularly important to the team. The category has a direct commercial link to national championships, where the KT2 chassis we raced is sold. I would like to say a huge thank you to the entire CRG Racing Team, as well as CRG Brasil, for supporting me throughout this fantastic experience in Europe.”
