International karting will be on track in Portimao for the 2nd and final race of the Champions of the Future series, on the next weekend (from Thursday 29th October to Sunday 1st November). It will be a very important race as it will be a test for all the teams and drivers in view of the FIA World Championship for the OK and OK Junior categories, which will be held on the same track the following week.
The CRG team worked hard for this appointment, bringing many technical developments. The Portimao race, therefore, will be important to allow the drivers to find the right feeling with the track, but above all for the technicians who will have to define the materials to be used the following week. With these premises, the sporting results will be secondary compared to the need to try all the technical solutions for an important race such as the World Championship.
The CRG drivers’ line-up, even if conditioned by some absences related to Covid situation, will be important and competitive. In OK, the couple Rasmuss Joutsimies and Genis Civico will be integrated by the Brazilians Olin Galli and Bruno Bertoncello, as well as by the Spanish Ruben Moya Lopez. Whilst in OK Junior, the duo of CRG drivers will be the Italian Simone Bianco and the Brazilian Gabriel Gomez. From a technical point of view, an important novelty in OK Junior will be the use of MG tires which will represent a new variable compared to the previous races of the 2020 season.
The event program includes free practice on Thursday, qualifying practice and heats on Friday and Saturday and the finals on Sunday. To follow the race, live timing and streaming services will be available on the website: https://www.championskarting.com
