The action on track is back for the OK and OKJ categories of international karting, which will be busy this weekend on the Portimão track in Portugal for the 2nd round of the Champions of the Future. The event will be the prologue to the 2nd Round of the FIA European Championship scheduled for next week from 1st to 4th May on the same track and will therefore be of significant importance for working on the set-ups in view of the FIA meeting.

The CRG Racing team will be on track with 11 drivers: 3 in OKJ and 8 in the top class. The team has already welcomed back Manuel Miguez in OKJ during the private tests last week and said goodbye to Daniel Miron, with whom they parted ways after the podium obtained in the Spanish Championship 10 days ago. In OKJ, Matteis Stigsen will still be absent due to health problems and, therefore, Mats Van Rooijen and Nicolas Guth will defend the CRG colours together with Miguez.

In the OK category, Viktor Gustafsson returns to the CRG line-up, who will also compete next week in the Euro FIA with TM engines, while with Iame engines CRG will field Davide Bottaro, Sebastian Minns, Maria Neto, Clovis Nougueryed, Alois Girardet, Maximo Toviggino and Antonio Macedo. The event program will end on Saturday 26th April with the Finals, which will be broadcast in live streaming on the official website of the event.

Jeremy Iglesias, Team Principal of the CRG Racing Team, presented the event as follows: “It will be a very important weekend in view of the Euro FIA the following week and in this event the work done by the expert Gustavsson on the set up will be very useful for the team. We had very productive tests last week and this weekend we will be able to better evaluate the work done on the race pace. Obviously, for our younger drivers the focus will also be on increasing the feeling with this track that is very technical and demanding from a driving point of view.”
