The third and final round of the FIA European Championship 2025 for the KZ and KZ2 categories took place at the Mülsen circuit in Germany. It was an unusual season, marked by several key withdrawals that led to a worryingly thin entry list and many performances affected by external technical factors that were difficult to evaluate.

One major issue was the negative impact of the tires selected by the FIA, which fundamentally altered the technical dynamics that have traditionally defined the top-tier international karting categories. At the same time, broader concerns have emerged regarding the calendar structure—specifically, the introduction of a third race weekend—and the ever-increasing costs teams are facing each year.

CRG honored the Championship, where it boasts one of the most successful track records in history. However, as the season comes to an end, the team is among the constructors most aware that future top-level KZ championships will require new conditions to thrive.

The Mülsen weekend saw a slight improvement in technical balance with the introduction of LeCont tires. Still, with CRG’s factory team already out of championship contention after the first two rounds, the focus shifted toward testing and simulations in preparation for the upcoming KZ World Championship. This strategy came at the expense of peak race performance.

In terms of results, Viktor Gustafsson finished 7th in KZ, while Alvar Siimesvaara placed 14th in KZ2 for CRG. Despite the challenges, the weekend in Germany marks a starting point for CRG’s preparations for the KZ World Championship, which will be held in October at the Franciacorta circuit in Italy.

Looking ahead to the season’s most important event, congratulations go to the newly crowned European champions: Mattéo Spirgel (KZ) and Maksim Orlov (KZ2).
