The OK and OKJ categories will take centre stage from 5 to 8 November at the Muro Leccese circuit in Italy for the most important event of the season: the FIA World Championship. The event will bring together 194 drivers (102 entries in OKJ and 92 in OK) and the leading teams in international karting.
Following CRG’s World Championship title in the KZ category at Le Mans and its victory in the OKN World Cup in Viterbo, the team’s goal is to fight for the title in the two most prestigious direct-drive categories as well, bringing an unforgettable racing season to an outstanding conclusion.
The driver line-up is highly competitive, with Viktor Gustafsson featuring in OK. CRG will look to make the most of his versatility and experience, two key assets in a one-off championship event where there is no room for mistakes. Alongside the Swedish driver, the official CRG team will also field Yuri Morelli, who claimed the OKN title in early October, Nefeli Kosmopoulos and Maximo Toviggino. In OKJ, particular attention will be on Many Nuvolini, who will make her first official race appearance in CRG colours, joining Iason Kosmopoulos, Marc Alexander Reistrup and Bwana Gessesse. Alongside the official CRG drivers, three representatives of the Lenovo Kalì Kart team will also be on track: Mark Loomets in OKJ and the duo of Davide Bottaro and Ludovico Mazzola in OK.
The event schedule features free practice on Thursday, followed by qualifying and the first heats on Friday. Saturday will be entirely dedicated to the qualifying heats, while Sunday will be title-deciding day, with the Super Heats and Finals. All CRG and Kalì Kart drivers will compete with TM engines.
CRG Team Principal Jeremy Iglesias introduces this important event: “We completed our work programme very successfully during the collective tests and we know we have strong potential in both categories. In OK, Viktor’s experience will be valuable in managing all the set-up decisions, while in Junior, both Iason and Many have shown good pace and have the experience needed to fight at the front. We will also work in close cooperation with the Kalì Kart team, where we have Davide Bottaro and Ludovico Mazzola in OK and Mark Loomets in OKJ. A one-off championship event always comes with uncertainties and key moments, such as qualifying, so we will focus on managing every stage of the weekend with maximum concentration. From a technical perspective, all the updates introduced by TM seem to work well on this circuit. Above all, the KT2 chassis, which already secured a victory in Viterbo, has once again confirmed its excellent performance. We can therefore say that we are approaching this important event with a degree of optimism.”
To follow all the on-track action, Live Timing and Live Streaming will be available on the official FIA website (www.fiakarting.com), while plenty of paddock content will be shared across CRG’s social media channels.
