CRG is pleased to announce Gerasim Skulanov as new driver for the 60 Mini category. The russian driver was showing up last season by winning many WSK events and was one of the most competitive top drivers on the market. The agreement that Gerasim’s family has signed with CRG is a two-year deal which includes a commitment to the 60 Mini for the first part of the 2021 season and afterward his debut in the OK Junior category.
The first race for that superior category is scheduled for June and after that Gerasim will get ready for participating in the OK Junior FIA World Championship, in order to have a full time commitment in 2022.
The 60 Mini category is becoming increasingly important from a commercial point of view for the manufacturers internationally and CRG has planned a high-profile official team for the 2021 season. Skulanov arrival, next to the confirmed driver Scott Lindblom, is only the first step of a 6-driver line up that will be officially presented in the next few days.
Skulanov has already took part in some very positive testing days and he will make his race debut in Adria in the WSK Championship this week. This is how Marco Angeletti commented on the agreement: “Last year with the FIA homologation of the chassis, the 60 MINI, which has always played an important role in CRG’s sporting programs, has started playing an enhanced role in the market and also in the organisation of our racing department. It allows us to design special training programs for the youngest drivers within the team, preparing them in the best possible way for the higher categories. The project we are building up with some young drivers, such as Lindblom and now Skulanov too, is going into that direction and has the aim of clearly strengthening our youth team, together with our sports ambitions in a market as competitive as the youth one.
Obviously, such ambitious and competitive drivers are also perfectly aligned with the goals of our racing department that has to match significant sporting results in every category to the R&D of the chassis we sell.”
Gerasim Skulanov also enthusiastically commented on the collaboration that is about to start with CRG: “Racing with CRG is a great opportunity because it will give me the chance to have the support of a top team to be competitive, learn a lot and improve myself as a driver. I have already visited the Factory and the Racing Team with my family and was impressed with the facilities and all the people I have met. I will do my best to return the trust that CRG has given me.“
