From 7th to 11th July the International Karting will make a stop in Italy on the Sarno circuit, where it is scheduled the 3rd Round of the FIA European Championship. The CRG Racing Team will race there with 4 drivers, equally divided into the two classes: the Italian Simone Bianco and the Russian Gerasim Skulanov in OK Junior, while the Finnish Rasmus Joutsimies and the Russian Ksenia Phoenix will compete in OK.
It has not been an easy season so far in the two direct drive classes for CRG, but the potential expressed several times is certainly higher than the results achieved. The goal of the team and the drivers is to score a positive result and start a path that guarantees continuity in terms of performance, both thinking about the close-up important events in July, as well as the World Championship that the two direct drive categories will have to face in October, which will be a single round.
The Sarno event will be the first of three consecutive ones for the OK and OKJ classes: after the race in Italy, the paddock will move to Spain for a double appointment: July 18th for the 2nd round of the Champions of the Future and July 25th for the 4th and final race of the FIA European Championship. For the technical staff and the drivers it will be an important commitment, also considering the high temperatures expected for all 3 races.
The Sarno weekend program will begin with the first free practice on Thursday and will continue with qualifying and the preliminary heats between Friday and Saturday, while the Finals are scheduled for early Sunday afternoon. All the races that will take place on Saturday and Sunday will be broadcast in live streaming.
Drivers’ expectations:
Gerasim Skulanov (OKJ): “I can’t wait to get on the track in Sarno for this race, which will be my first FIA one and certainly the most important meeting I have taken part in so far. I have only two races of experience in OK Junior and I must take this aspect into account, but I like the track and in the tests we have carried out with MG tires, which are used in FIA races, we have had an excellent feedback. I hope to do a good race and I will certainly learn a lot for future events”.
Rasmus Joutsimies (OK): “In the first two rounds of the Championship we have always had a top ten potential and I think we are very close to closing the gap with the leaders. We will also have some technical innovations and we will see after the first free practice if the positive test data will be confirmed also here in Sarno. We have a few intense weeks ahead of us and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel”.
